In over 20 years of activity, we have become one of the most active entities in cultural promotion in the province of Lecco. Promoting the culture of travelling and responsible tourism and getting to know new cultures are how Les Cultures works towards turning barriers into frontiers.
Our cultural initiatives are mainly related to three different areas: the Immagimondo Festival, publishing activities, and promoting conferences and public debates. We also organise language courses in collaboration with our cultural mediators.
Immagimondo, a festival of travelling, places, and cultures
Since 1997, Immagimondo has been bringing the world to Lecco and Lecco to the world. Travellers, writers, scholars, photographers, directors, and musicians come together every year to exchange travelling ideas, suggestions, and experiences in one of Italy’s most important and “historical” festivals focused on travelling.
The Festival was set up with the goal of spreading an idea of travelling that originates from curiosity and the desire to get to know the people, places, and cultures of the world, both near and far, promoting tourism engaged responsibly and with respect.
Together with Immagimondo and promoting conferences and public debates, the publishing activity of Les Cultures is one of the elements of our cultural offering.
We believe in knowledge as a tool for opening up and building a welcoming and inclusive society. Therefore, every year since 1998 we have printed a photographic book that focuses on travelling and contact with far-off places and peoples.
Over the years, we have gone all around the world, telling stories from Niger, Vietnam, Tibet, Mongolia, New Guinea, Jordan, and India.
The profits from the sale of the books help us to continue our work of international cooperation and integration of migrants into the area.
We organise talks, film projections, and public debates aimed at informing public opinion and stimulating reflection on many modern issues, including those linked to migration and the structural problems of certain countries in the southern hemisphere.
Every year, in collaboration with our cultural mediators, we organise Arabic, Russian, Chinese Portuguese, and Spanish courses.
